FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly will you do to edit my work?

This depends on the level of edit contracted. Overall, we will make changes to improve your text and assure that all spelling, punctuation, grammar, and capitalization are correct. We will check for style, organization, tone, coherence, and smooth transitions. More specifically, we will re-craft sentences by substituting words or phrases and whatever changes we feel necessary to improve your text. Disorganized, run-on sentences, or choppy writing will be rewritten to be more concise and effective for what you’re attempting to get across to your audience. For more detail, please visit our Rates and Estimates page.

What if I am not happy with the results and feel that the editor did not thoroughly address the problems with my writing?

If you are unhappy for any reason, please contact us with your concerns and we will have a different editor review your work at no additional charge. We aim for Total Trust!™   and 100% satisfaction.

How long will it take for you to edit and proof my work?

We will determine with you your deadline and if we feel we can’t meet it, we will not accept the work.  That rarely happens. We strive to finish it as quickly as possible, without compromising quality. Our turnaround time generally exceeds expectations.

How much will it cost to edit my writing?

See our Rates and Estimates page for details.

 Can I make payments?

We require a 50% deposit from new clients and then progress payments as determined once your submission is reviewed and an estimate is provided.

I want to protect my work before sending it to you. Do you have any recommendations for how that can be handled?

We have known others to burn their work on a CD and mail it to themselves leaving the postmarked envelope sealed and intact. This should protect you should a legal issue arise. You could formally copyright your work at that juncture, but then you would have to formally copyright it again once it is in final form. Fees range from $35 for eBooks to $150 for hard copy manuscripts. You can find this service online at: US Copyright Office.

Do you provide free samples of your editing?

Unfortunately, we do not. Providing free editing services would take our editors away from those clients who have paid for services. However, should you agree to pay in full in advance of editing services, we will produce a 10-page sample. Your manuscript would need to be at least 500 pages in length. Please contact us with this request and forward your entire document or manuscript to us and we would be happy to provide you with a sample. Should you be dissatisfied with the sample, you will receive a complete refund.
